CONCEPT IDEATION
Exploring form was crucial in establishing Dyson’s design language. In the initial phase (1.0), the focus was on refining the form, leading to the selection of the final design aesthetic.

Multi-purpose lighting
Tube light is removable with a charging base
FINAL CONCEPT ITERATION
During the 2.0 ideation phase, I retained the original form while incorporating technology features into the sketches. I also researched how these additions could address potential issues in the garage.

Final Direction
Multiple light tubes for household
Pods needed to be bigger
PROTOTYPING AND USER TESTING
Throughout the prototyping phase:

-
Optimizing proportion and size
-
Adjusting thickness
-
Simplifying features
-
Testing weight and ergonomics
-
Determining power button placement
-
Ensuring proper lighting pod fitment
-
Evaluating clear and frosted acrylic options
-
Strategically placing the charging port

PRODUCT DETAILS
The Dyson LP 2.0 can be used in a household with a garage setting.

DYSON MOBILE APP
The final design of the Marathon Barbershop app is thoughtfully crafted to meet the needs of clients, providing a seamless and welcoming experience that makes them feel comfortable and understood.

New owner or log in: Download the Dyson app from the App Store and create a profile to set up the Dyson LP 2.0.

Add machine: Go to 'Add Machine' and select your new device under 'Lighting Pods.

Connecting device: Power "ON" and select the area in your house where you'd like to place your lighting pods, then continue with the rest of the setup.

Base connection: The blue light will pulse. Next, place your phone near the base of the device to establish the Bluetooth connection.

Synchronize local lighting: After selecting your location, the device will automatically adjust the lighting based on your settings. You can also bypass this and manually adjust the lighting or choose from three different lighting modes.

Placing lighting pods: You can power the light pods on and off individually through the app by selecting the ON/OFF power icons or buttons.

Manually controlling lights: Manually adjust the desired lighting for each pod. With their magnetic backs, you can place the pods anywhere in the garage, such as on toolboxes, car hoods, garage doors, aluminum tables, and more.

Adjust lighting: Adjust the lighting on each pod by modifying the Kelvin temperature and/or lumens settings.

Hazardous chemical alert: A pop-up window will alert the user if a hazardous material is detected in the garage from the vents of the pods. You can view details about the detected chemical, including relevant information. After reviewing, you can clear the alert and resolve the issue.
FINAL PRODUCT
The new product is a unique design to Dyson design language adding a new lighting device.
